Carlos finished the 2009 season with 71 tackles (35 solo), 38 QB hurries, 4 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles, and 15 sacks.
Thompson finished his junior season with 115 tackles, 10 sacks, four fumbles recovered and three fumbles caused. He says he can bench 305-pounds, squat 405 and claims a 38-inch vertical jump.
Partial senior (4-0) stats: over 20 tackles and five sacks.
Thompson plans to major in sports marketing and reports a 2.7 core GPA and a 16 ACT, which he plans on retaking in the fall.
Carlos' father, Carlos' Sr, is the head coach at Hollandale-Simmons High School. His brother, Quinton Groves, plays for the Jacksonville Jags.
Thompson is widely considered to be the top defensive end prospect in the state of Mississippi for the 2010 signing class.
Thompson: “I have great speed and can get off the ball quickly. I’m like an edge guy. I can come off the edge really well.”
“I want to bring my forty speed (4.6) down. And I’m working on using my hands more and improving my hand technique.”
