Johnson says he’s benched a max of 455-pounds and claims to have squatted 700-pounds once. “I only tried it once,” he said. “I did it last year and didn’t really see a reason to go that high again. Normally I just do sets of 12 with around 500-pounds.”
2008: Hughes played right tackle and nose guard as a junior, but will likely move to guard or center on the next level. He recorded 55 pancake blocks on offense. He added 84 tackles on defense, 29 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.
Hughes was injured during his sophomore season 2007.
Hughes wants to be a strength coach when he gets older and plans on majoring in exercise science. He reports a 4.0 core GPA (4.0 scale) and a 27 ACT.
Hughes: “I’ve got really good feet and I’m really strong. I’m also smart and a good leader.
“I’m quick, but I’m not fast. I want to get faster. I also want to work on staying low.”
