Josh Chestang (LB, Moss Point, MS) - One of the top linebackers
in the Magnolia state will come off of the Tiger's squad.
"My speed
is the biggest thing. My skills are exceptional. I am a sideline to sideline type
of player. I make plays all over the field," added Josh Chestang.
What
does the 6' 0", 210 pound linebacker want to improve on?
"Just
my moves, my swim moves. I need to work on that more, and I need to get quicker.
I have to get off of my blocks quicker."
Chestang reports 4.4 speed
and played defensive end last year but is expected to play OLB in college.
"Our
defensive ends play like an outside linebacker in our defense. We play like a
3-4, but we are right behind the defensive tackles."
Moss Point went
7-5 and got beat out by Oak Grove in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
"It
was a real good season for us. We started off real slow. It got kind of rough,
but we got it together as a team. I think I did well. I led our team in sacks
(12), and I did well at defensive end."
Josh finished the year with
74 tackles, 12 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and recovered 2 of them for TD's.
"I
made 1st Team All-Coast and All-Area."
Who are the main colleges that
are recruiting Josh?
"I am being looked at by Ole Miss, Auburn, Tennessee,
MSU, LSU, Marshall, and Illinois. That is about it."
Any early offers?
"Ole
Miss is it so far."
Which colleges are at the top?
"LSU
and Tennessee have really caught my eye. Ole Miss is right behind Tennessee. They
have been sending me a lot of mail, more than anybody else. I am still thinking
about things. I have not decided yet."
What stands out about LSU?
"I
went to their Jr Day. I liked their whole facilities and how the school is. They
tell you about the importance of getting your degree. You get a pass from there.
No matter what; you will get your degree."
What are Tennessee's positives?
"I
always liked them since I was young. I do not know too much about them, but I
know it is a good program."
Chestang had a chance to meet one of the
Vol's coaches.
"Coach Luke came down here and gave me a questionnaire
and told me about their program. He seemed like a nice guy."
Ole Miss?
"I
just like how they recruit me. They are coming after me the harest and they need
LB's."
What about Mississippi's other SEC program, MSU?
"They
are not really on my top list."
Where does Auburn fit in?
"I
am not sure about Auburn yet. Hopefully I can go to one of their camps this summer,
but right now it is just LSU, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. They are the main three
I am trying to decide on, but I will keep the other schools in mind."
Chestang
reports a 2.7 GPA and has not taken the ACT test.
