Mosley takes in Ole Miss

Brandon Mosley

Three-star JUCO tight end Brandon Mosley took in his third official visit to Ole Miss over the weekend. Though he's still mulling his final decision, the Rebels apparently made a push for his signature. Read about it inside.

As one of the more highly-recruited JUCO standouts in the country, three-star tight end Brandon Mosley has certainly had a lot to think about in recent weeks.

The 6-foot-6, 270 pounder, who plays defensive end for Coffeyville, prefers tight end on the college level, which suits Ole Miss perfectly with the graduation of senior Gerald Harris following the Cotton Bowl in January.

In his third of four official visits, Mosley tripped to Oxford over the weekend, and said the trip was more than he expected.

"It was better," Mosley said. "I wasn't expecting what I got. I knew it was going to fun, but I had a great time."

Hosted by senior fullback Andy Hartmann, the Jefferson, Ga. native said he got the full tour of Ole Miss and what the Rebels have to offer.

"It went good. I enjoyed it a lot," he said. "I mostly hung out with Andy. We hung out with some players and went out downtown. I had a good time. All the players were telling me about the fans and how they love football players. They told me about the coaches and how it was before they got here. They just told me how much better it is now."

Mosley had already made visits to Arizona and Auburn, but said his experience at Ole Miss was more inclusive.

"I got to do a lot more," said Mosley. "I got to hang out with the coaches a lot more. The coaches were awesome. We went to (Ole Miss head) coach (Houston ) Nutt's house. He showed me around. I talked to all of (the coaches). They're great. I enjoyed them a lot. All the players are cool too. It's all cool.

"I could definitely see myself playing there."

Also making the trek to Faulkner country with Mosley were some family members. What did they think of the official?

"My little brother, mom and grandmother came. They loved it. They want me to go there."

Mosley said a big factor in his recruitment is playing time. With Ole Miss short in numbers at his desired position of tight end, the Rebel depth chart was a hot topic of discussion.

"What the coaches told me had a lot to do with the tight end and how they use them," he said. "They talked about the depth at tight end. It's definitely an opportunity. They need a bigger guy to block. That's what I'm looking for – playing time."

Finally, Mosley had a one-on-one visit with Nutt before heading home. What did the second-year head coach have to say?

"Basically, they need tight ends bad," Mosley said. "He wants me to come in and play and help the offense."

Mosley will take his final visit next week to Florida State before weighing his options on where he'll continue his football career.

"I like Ole Miss a lot. They might be number one," he closed. "I still want to take my visits and compare afterwards, but I'll probably know after this upcoming weekend."
