Two straight seasons of playing the Cowboys on the road have resulted in two straight blowout losses for the Seahawks, the most recent one coming Sunday as Dallas used several big plays to breeze to an easy 38-17 win.
Dallas QB
Tony Romo
had one of his best games of the season, completing 21 of 36 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns on his way to a 108.1 QB rating for the game.
The Cowboys also got big plays from their defense -- three sacks and two fumbles -- as well as an 82-yard punt return from
Patrick Crayton
to seal the win.
Seattle did what they could early on to stifle the now potent Dallas passing game, double-teaming WR
Miles Austin
who had accounted for over 400 yards and four touchdowns the past two games. However, with their offense continuing to struggle they were only able to notch 10 points in the first half, getting a 43-yard
Olindo Mare
field goal and a 23-yard touchdown reception by
Deion Branch
early in the second quarter to keep things close.
However, Romo was patient early on hitting WR
Sam Hurd
for a 36-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter and then hitting WR
Roy Williams
on a seven-yard touchdown with only 35 seconds left in the first half.
RB
Marion Barber
was unable to get going, only managing 53 yards on 14 carries, but he did manage to get a touchdown from two yards out in the first half.
The third quarter was all Dallas as Hasselbeck was beaten and battered by the relentless Cowboy pass rush, being sacked by
Bobby Carpenter
,
Keith Brooking
and DeMarcus Ware.
Romo managed to find Austin for a three-yard touchdown pass late in the quarter and then after Seattle was unable to do anything with the ball on the ensuing drive, Crayton got his big return stiff-arming P
Jon Ryan
on his way to the score.
Seattle did manage to score a late touchdown as Hasselbeck hit FB
Justin Griffith
for a four-yard touchdown pass, but by then the winner of the game had already been decided.
Even in the loss, Hasselbeck had a solid day, completing 22 of 39 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns, while WR
Nate Burleson
had six receptions for 89 yards.
LB
David Hawthorne
, who was starting in place of
Lofa Tatupu
, continued his solid play, managing to post eight tackles and Seattle's only two sacks while CB
Ken Lucas
managed seven stops and S
Jordan Babineaux
posted six.
Brooking had a huge game for Dallas, registering 11 tackles and a sack while LB Brady James had nine tackles and CB Terrance Newman contributed seven.
Seattle, now 2-5, heads home to prepare for 1-6 Detroit who lost a close one at home to St. Louis, 17-10.
