Gabriel Hunter set the Shelby County season and single game rushing record last year and this season he started right right where he left off last year.

"We got off to a good start," added Gabriel Hunter. "Any time you get a shut out, you have to like that."

But it was Hunter who stole the show has he rushed for 255 yards and 3 TD's on only 16 rushes.

"I had some good runs out there. I felt strong until I sprained my ankle pretty good in the first quarter. I had to sit out the second half because it had swelled up pretty good."

How does the ankle now feel?

"It is still pretty swallon. It is on ice right now. We are trying to get it ready for next week because the competition picks up."

In typical Gabriel style, he started the game off with a bang.

"I broke the first play from the line of scrimmage for 40 yards and that got the team all hyped up. We stayed hyped up from there on out."

The 5' 11", 190 pound back feels like his leadership has taken his game to the next level.

"Everyone looks up to me, emotionally and on the field. I take that as a compliment, and I am trying to be the guy to get us over the hump."

Kingsbury beat Central 39-0 but the competition will pick up a notch next week.

"We play MUS so you know we will have to have our game on. They are always good. We have already started breaking down their defense and they have some great ball players. I can't wait to get an opportunity to play those guys if my ankle lets me. It is going to be fun."

Gabriel committed to Ole Miss last month and plans on being down in Oxford to watch his team play his home town school.

"Yea, that is going to be a lot of fun. I know a lot of guys on Memphis' squad. I am having a good time with those guys. They know what is coming, but it is all in fun. I am taking our fullback, Roderick Howard and our QB who committed to Memphis Randy Powell, with me."

For those that are keeping count, Gabriel is now only 2, 424 yards away from breaking his Shelby County rushing record that he set last year.

"Man, I guess that does sound like a lot (laugh). I just want to bring home the trophy. If that means I break the record in doing so, then it's all good.
