"We have been practicing for Booneville for I do not know
how long," added an exhausted Dorian Berry after a grueling two and half
hour practice in the August Mississippi heat. "We are just ready to start
hitting someone besides ourselves. I am really beginning to dislike some of my
teammates (laugh). We do not have a jamboree like a lot of the other teams from
around here, so it is all Booneville for us right now."
Berry has
seen some improvements in his game from last year.
"I am trying to get way better than I was last
year by making more catches and running better routes."
Last season
Dorian had 39 catches for 857 yards and 11 TD's. He earned 1st Team All-State
(2A), Super 24, and All Area how his own the field accomplishments.
"I
can do way better than that, to be honest. I left a lot of yards out there last
year. I want to get every possible yard I can get his year."
The 6'
3", 190 pound receiver only took in one camp over the summer.
"We
went down to Delta State. I got to see my old teammate, Dominique Davenport. That
was good. I think he is going to get a lot of playing time this year."
Which
teams have stayed in contact with Dorian?
"It is mostly the same teams.
All of the SEC teams and USM. It is all the same teams but mostly MSU, Alabama,
and Ole Miss."
Berry plans to attend a few college games this fall.
"For
sure, I am going to some MSU and Ole Miss game. I might even make the Ole Miss/Memphis
game next Saturday if I can get a ride."
College recruiters will start
placing their calls starting September 1st, as this is the first day that the
coaches can start contacting the recruits weekly by phone. Who does Berry look
forward most to calling?
"I hope MSU calls me. I would like to go
to MSU."
