Miami DB sets up offiicial with Ole Miss

The 5' 11", 185 pound defensive back out of Gulliver Prep had a chance to take in Miami's football recently.
"I did well," added
Artice Kellam
. "Miami has been sending me a lot of stuff since their camp. That is the only camp I got to go to this summer because I was in summer school taking Spanish."
The Miami native did get a chance to set up his first official visit.
"October 4th I am going over to Ole Miss with
Frank Crawford
. I have been calling some of their coaches, and I have been liking what they have been saying about their school. But I told them I want to see the campus first before I commit. I just like their coaches, and I have a chance to play in my first year if I go there."
Kellam has developed a nice relationship with several members of the Ole Miss staff.
"I call Coach Vaughn pretty much every week, and I even call their head coach some. I have a good bond with those guys."
Who are the other colleges involved in Kellam's recruitment?
"South Carolina, Indiana, and Minnesota. I have been talking to them a lot. I have not been talking to anymore coaches because I have been in school all summer."
Which schools have offered?
"Ole Miss, South Carolina, Minnesota, and Indiana."
What stands out about South Carolina?
"I talk to Coach Robert Gillispie on the phone a lot. I have built a good relationship with those guys, and I plan on taking an official visit to them in the Fall. We just have not set up a date."
Indiana?
"I have really not had a chance to talk to Indiana much on the phone. I talked them after my spring game but not lately."
Minnesota?
"I talk to Coach McDonald a lot. I like how relaxed their staff is. I also plan on taking a visit to Minnesota this fall."
When it does come decision time; there will be a couple of factors.
"I just want a chance to play my freshman year. I will look at their depth chart at the position they are recruiting me to play. I also want to look at the environment around town and on campus. I want to see how they treat their people."
Kellam is unsure of his GPA and reports a 790 SAT.
