Rebs in Top 3 for Florida receiver
By
Yancy Porter
Mississippi Scout
Posted Jul 21, 2008
One of the top receivers in the state of Florida left Jefferson County and transferred to Chamberlain during the offseason.
So far, so good for the 6' 3", 205 pound athlete.
"It has been a really smooth transition form," added
Anthony Williams
. "The guys have taken me in as one of their own, and we have one of the best staffs in the state. I am very excited about my finishing my career here."
Last season, Williams caught 38 passes for 480 yards and 4 TD's but hopes for bigger numbers this year.
"I think I am a step quicker and I feel lighter on my feet. I am down to 205 now, and my forty time has gone down to a 4.52. I play real aggressive. A lot of people call me T.O. because I am big and aggressive like he is. If I am 1 on 1 with a DB, nine times out of ten I will come down with the ball because I want it more. I am not afraid to block either."
Williams had not had a chance to take in any camps this summer until Friday.
"Me and my QB,
Dontae Aycock
, went over to the Friday Night Lights at Florida. But other than that, I have not had a chance to go to any camps because I am getting ready for the season."
Which colleges is Anthony staying in contact with?
"I have offers from Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Rutgers, and Indiana."
Which ones stand out?
"My top three right now are Georgia, Ole Miss, and Arkansas."
What stands out about Georgia?
"I think the reason they are in my top 3 is because of QB
Aaron Murray
. He was my little league QB and we became close friends. Every since we were young we have talked about going to the same college together."
And Ole Miss?
"The coaching staff there is awesome. Coach Vaughn, when he was down here recruiting me, we had a good conversation. He did not put any pressure on me to commit, he just said I could be a big part of his offense. He called me on the phone to let me know about my scholarship, and I have been calling him ever since."
Arkansas?
"I just like their school because I grew up watching Arkansas football."
Who is coming after Williams the hardest?
"I would say Ole Miss because they stay in contact with me the most."
Anthony reports a 2.8 GPA.
