Powe Cleared!

Mississippi Scout
Posted Jul 28, 2008

Jerrell received the good word late Monday afternoon that he had been formally cleared to play in the SEC next season.

Now it is time to turn to the next chapter of Powe's life.

The 6' 2", 340 pound former Wayne County standout has been going through summer conditioning with the team and will be looked upon to make an immediate impact for the Rebel's defensive line next year.

Powe last played for Hargrave in 2005 while sitting out the ‘06 and ‘07 seasons trying to gain eligibility.

Jerrell did get to go through two a days last summer while waiting on the NCAA clearinghouse, so he has at least been through the rigors of college practice before.

Some believe Powe is the top overall prospect to come out of Mississippi in the last 10 years.
