Deontae Skinner (DE, Macon, MS) - Noxubee County surprised many when they took home the North Half 4A championship and made it to the State Championship game.

There were several outstanding playmakers on their team, but none made a bigger impact on their defense than their defensive end.

Deontae finished the season with 122 tackles and 6 sacks He was named All-Region for his play.

"I am a great pass rusher," added Deontae Skinner. "But I can also stop the runner too."

Being an all around player is every recruit's goal, but Skinner has a very simple goal for his senior season.

"I just want to have another great season, win a state championship, and go to college. I do not look at numbers or anything like that. I just look at wins."

Being a team player might not have been in the cards until his coaches and Aunt installed that winning attitude in Deontae as a youngster.

"They have done so much for me. They changed my life in a lot of ways. They taught me to take everything serious. I was going down the wrong path before they got a hold of me. I owe everything to my aunt and coaches."

The 6' 2", 230 pound defensive end received his first scholarship offer from Mississippi State in early February and got his second one yesterday.

"Coach (Derrick) Nix from Ole Miss called and told me that they had an offer for me. He said he just wanted to know when I was going to come up there. He saw me on film and liked me."

Deontae is not that familiar with Ole Miss but does know one thing.

"I just like their team. They always have a positive mindset about winning. They just want to win."

Skinner has had a chance to visit the MSU on several occasions as it is just down the road.

"I went to their Jr Day last Saturday. They have a great staff, and they want to win like Ole Miss too. They have a nice campus too."

Where will Skinner head next?

"I am going to go to Ole Miss Jr Day in April (13th) with Pat Patterson and some coaches."

Anywhere else?

"I do not know yet. I just want to go anywhere I can get to, where ever I am accepted. I have only been to one campus in my life, and that is to MSU, so I want to get around to as many as I can."

Where all would Deontae like to visit?

"I would like to go check out Florida State. I like their team. I always liked FSU since I was a kid. That is really where I want to go. And I like Tennessee too. I just like their school. They have a great school. I have studied them on the internet, and they have a lot of great things going on at Tennessee. I like their team too. And Arkansas, I have studied them on the Internet a lot too. I just like the way they play ball, and I like all the things they have to offer. Those are pretty much the schools I am interested in right now but I am wide open."
