CA's leading juco receiver talks recruiting

David Reed (WR, Pasadena College, CA) - The leading receiver in the California junior college ranks is a Newbritian (Connecticut) native.

"My coach knew the recruiting coach at Pasadena community college," added David Reed. "So I went out here and never looked back."

As a freshman Reed made a name for himself by earning All-Mission Conference honors.

"I had 32 catches for 711 yards and 11 TD's. I did OK, but I am doing much better this year."

That is an understatement as Reed is simply tearing it up this season.

"I have 42 receptions for 753 yards and 8 TD's through our first five games. We just beat Palomar. We were both 4-0, so that was a big game for us."

Why the increase in production?

"I worked real hard in the offseason, harder than I have ever worked before."

The 6' 0", 185 pound receiver, who reports a 4.4 forty, has attracted the attention for several colleges.

"I am getting calls from Ole Miss, UCLA, Oregon, Kansas State, San Diego State, Utah, Utah State, and Colorado State."

Any scholarship offers?

"Yes, Ole Miss offered me. They came out to the school in the Spring a couple of times to see me play. I sent them my highlight tape, and they offered me last summer."

David, understandably, does not know a whole lot about the Rebels.

"I just know they are in the SEC and that is about it."

Has Reed started to set up his official visits?

"No, but I just talked to Kansas State today about going out there. I definitely want to visit Ole Miss and Kansas. I will probably go out and see Oregon too. I like how they spread the ball out."

David is scheduled to graduate in May.
