Paul Henry (OL, Ft. Smith, AR) - Scout.com's #21 nationally rated offensive tackle received a call from the Ole Miss staff yesterday.
"Coach Freeze called me. He is trying to get me down there for a visit in January. I will either come down there this weekend or next, but we have not set the date yet," added
Paul Henry
.
Paul is in the middle of basketball season and he has to plan the visit around his games.
"I have a game this the next two Saturdays, so it is going to be tough, but I was am to see if coach will let me miss one of the games."
How is Henry's basketball season coming along?
"Real good. I am averaging like 12 points and 10 rebounds a game right now."
Paul believes it is beneficial for his football game to play basketball.
"I think it really helps my footwork out, and besides, it keeps me in shape. But mostly, it helps me out with my quickness."
Henry displayed his quickness at the Ole Miss senior camp when he was the only offensive lineman to run a sub 5.0 forty.
"They pretty much offered me on the spot (laugh). I think that surprised them a lot. They like my athleticism."
Paul has never wavered on his commitment from the start although his home state university, Arkansas, would have liked for him to.
"They tell me that I need to stay home and help out my home state and win some championships over there, but I just feel comfortable with the Ole Miss staff and I like the town of Oxford. It is real quiet down there. I am real excited to sign with Ole Miss. I am going to have fun down there."
The proximity of Oxford to some of his relatives also played a role.
"Most of my family lives in Magee, AR, so it is real close to them. Everybody is going to have a chance to see me play on Saturday's now."
Paul was recently moved to the #21 offensive tackle in the country by
Scout.com
but Henry is not concerned with his rankings.
"I really do not keep up with all of that stuff. I just want to play ball and help my team get some W's. To be honest, I did not even know what my rankings were."
The 2006 Class 6A 1st Team All-State member was also named to the 1st Team All-South squad by the
Orlando Sentine
l, but he has more pressing goals in front of him.
"I just want to earn a (starting) job when I get down to Ole Miss. I want to be a freshman All-American. That is my number one goal."
Before Paul can arrive to Ole Miss, he needs to pull up his ACT score.
"I have a 3.35 GPA and a 15 on the ACT. They told me I need a 17. I am retaking the test this month, and I am signed up for it in February too. I have a few more times to take it, so hopefully I will get it done."
