Where does Allen Bell now stand?

Allen

Allen Bell, the speedy 6-1, 195-pound corner and track star from Independence CC in Kansas, had been leaning towards Louisville and Ole Miss over the last few weeks. But moments ago, Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino, accepted a 5 year 24 million dollar contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Where does this leave the Cardinals?

"I did not know that Petrino had left," stated a shocked Allen Bell. "I really do not know what to say. I just talked to him last night. Man, this changes everything a lot. That makes it real different."

Although Allen had reported that he was 50/50 between Ole Miss and Louisville going into the dead period, it is apparent that the Cards were in the lead.

"I think they might have been (in the lead). Going home from my (official) visit, I talked to some people from my old high school who were thinking about going there. We have a lot of people from Tallahassee (FL) who go there. I have heard a lot of positives about them (Louisville), but now I just do not know."

Who all is still in the picture?

"This puts Ole Miss out in front, for sure. But I am still looking at Iowa State and Nebraska too."

When did Iowa State come into the picture?

"I talked to them right before I went home (for the break). They came up to the school right before I took my visit to Louisville. I spoke with Coach Chisate during the Christmas break and I decided to go up there for a visit this weekend (1/12)."

Anymore visits lined up?

"I might go to Nebraska, but I have to see if they will take my classes. They have different requirements there, so we have to go over everything."

When it comes decision time; what will be the main factors?

"Just where I feel comfortable and they have good coaches. At first, staying close to home (Florida) was real important, but I realized that you can not always be close to home. That is now a big deal anymore."

Bell actually enrolled at Independence CC to run track, but he found out his size coupled with his 10.5 100 meter and 4.39 40 speed make him a rare commodity, physically.

"I'm big enough and strong enough to take away some advantages some bigger wide receivers have and I have always felt I can run with anyone," he closed. "I have good movement for a bigger corner."

Bell will have 3 years to play 3 on the next level.
