"We had
an in-home visit with Dan Werner and we will have Steve Spurrier and Bob Stoopes
in here later this week," said Mr. Garcia. "Then Urban Meyer will be
in here and I think Ed Orgeron will be in here soon."I don't think
Stephen can make a bad decision of those four. Oklahoma and Florida are already
established, winning programs and SC and Ole Miss are on the rise. Anyone who
thinks they aren't isn't paying attention. I love what Ed and Dan are doing with
the Ole Miss program."
The Garcias have already visited Ole Miss once
and will set up an official visit "by next week."
"Stephen
will set up all his official visits in the next week or so. We just have to work
them all out so there are no conflicts," said the Tampa investment broker.
"Nobody has to sell me on Ole Miss. I told Coach Werner if Stephen picks
Ole Miss, I will buy a place up there. I hear there is good hunting and fishing
up there and I'm into that.
"When we were there, we recognized some
special things about Ole Miss, not the least of which is the coaching staff. If
Stephen picks Ole MIss, I am all for it."
Mr. Garcia said the ultimate
choice will be up to Stephen.
"I have five children. Stephen's older
brothers both graduated from Harvard. His older sister is about to graduate from
the University of South Florida. I'm the kind of parent who prefers to teach my
kids how to fish rather than feed them fish I have caught," he noted. "It
will be his choice."
Garcia is a 6-3, 212-pounder with 4.7 speed. He
played for Jefferson Senior High School in Tampa and has passed for over 7, 800
yards and totaled over 80 TD's in his three years as a starter for Jefferson.
Stephen also set the Hillsborough County record for most passing yards
in a game with 445 and 7 TD's against Leto this season.
