Will MUS product play baseball or football?

Michael Park (QB, Memphis, TN) - Michael led MUS to the D11 (3A) State Championship and was one of seven Shelby-Metro standouts selected to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's Division 2 All-State team.

Michael was also a Finalist for the Shelby Metro Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 1, 900 yards and 16 TD's. That is some pretty lofty company when you consider that the other Finalist were MSU signee Anthony Summers, Ole Miss signee Markeith Summers, Miami signee Graig Cooper, and junior phenom Aaron Crawford out of Ridgeway.

Touched 91 MPH in front of scouts

As good of a prospect as Michael is in football, he could even be a better prospect in baseball. Park was rated Shelby Metro's 3rd top Sophomore (by Commercial Appeal) and was the only sophomore to make All-State which included all of the divisions and classifications in the state of Tennessee.

Ole Miss was so impressed that they offered Park before he even threw his first pitch as a junior.

Michael improved to 7-1 (1.00 ERA) last night by beating Briarcrest 3-2. He had 13 K's and went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI's and hit the game winner.

Ole Miss, Alabama, Vandy, Memphis, and the Cleveland Indians were all at the game. The scouts came away impressed as he was hitting 91 MPH on the radar gun..

In football, Coaches Fulmer and Roper from Tennessee were at MUS yesterday along with MSU, Notre Dame, and Michigan.

The football programs who are showing the most interest right now are Arkansas, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, MSU, Vandy, and Oklahoma.

In baseball, Ole Miss and Memphis have offered, and he is being closely watched by Alabama, Vandy, Florida, and MSU.

Park has the bloodlines for both sports.

Park's older brother, Rob Park, is the current starting punter for the University of Mississippi. His Uncle, Mike Park, played for Jake Gibbs' baseball team that went to the '72 World Series for Ole Miss.

So, just which sport will Michael play on the next level? Or will he skip the next level altogether and go in the MLB draft? And there is always the possibility that Michael could play both sports on the collegiate level.
