The following information was revealed during our interview with Anthony Gray:
Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Defensive tackle."
Do you go both ways for Philadelphia? "Yes sir, I play defensive tackle and offensive guard. I have been going both ways since I started playing football."
What are your strengths on the field? "Really, just out powering the offensive line and just outthinking them."
What do yo most need to work on? "Right now, I am just working on my foot speed. I have good foot work, but it can always improve. I am also working on my hand eye coordination."
What was your team's record last season? "We went 10-2 and got put out by East Marion in the 3rd round last year."
What were your stats for the year? "I led the team in tackling with 86 tackles. I also had 34 batted balls and 5 sacks."
Any awards? "Last year, I got Best DL on our team. I was named 2nd Team All-State and 1st Team All-Region. I was Neshoba County's Lineman of the Year, and I am also a two time state champion in power lifting. I won state my freshman and sophomore years."
Which colleges are recruiting you the hardest? "I get a lot of stuff from USM. They have already offered me. MSU, I hear a lot from them too. Ole Miss,. LSU, and West Virginia. West Virginia has offered me too. Tennessee is recruiting me pretty good too."
Who is recruiting you for each school? "Coach Trickett at West Virginia. Coach Hopson for USM. Coach Luke for Ole Miss. Coach Johnson at MSU. Coach Miles for LSU, and Coach Caldwell recruits me for Tennessee."
Who keeps in phone contact with you? "Really, Ole Miss and Coach Bartlett from Rice calls a lot. I forgot to mention them. Rice is really on me hard. MSU calls. USM calls, and I have gotten a few calls from LSU."
Which coach have you developed the tightest bond with? "I really like Coach Hopson from USM. I talk to him the most."
Which colleges are peaking your interest? "I am pretty high on these five schools; LSU, USM, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Ole Miss."
When I say LSU; what comes to mind? "I like their winning tradition."
What about USM? "They are close to home. Really, they are just close to home."
West Virginia? "They have a pretty good business school up there, so I would have to say academics."
What are Tennessee's positives? "Tradition, winning tradition."
Ole Miss? "I like Coach Orgeron. He has coached a lot of good defensive linemen. He has a track record of putting good DL in the league."
What will be the main factors when it comes decision time? "Really, I am just looking at my academics. I really want to get to the NFL, but I want to get my education first."
