Lance Lynn (RHP/1B, Brownsburg, IN) - Lance was named Indiana's Gatorade Player of the Year this season. He was drafted by Seattle in the 6th round but was their 4th overall pick (the Mariners did not own a 2nd or 3rd round pick).Seattle met with Lynn on Wednesday and laid out their contract numbers. How did the meeting go?

The following information was revealed during our interview with Lance Lynn:

What is going on? "I am on my way to Ole Miss' orientation right now."

What about your on going negotiations with Seattle? "Right now, I am on my way to orientation, so I guess you can say I did not like what they said. I fully intend on going to Ole Miss in the Fall. I would not be driving 10 hours down there right now if I were not planning on going (laugh). That is for sure."

When will you move to Oxford? "In August. I am playing in a local summer league."

With who? "The Mustangs. It is in the Indianapolis area."

Tell us about your season? "We won State and went 35-0."

What awards did you receive? "I was the Gatorade Player of the Year, and Mr. Baseball comes out next week."

What were your stats for the season? "I hit over .400 with 10 doubles, 14 HR's, and 50 RBI's."

Pitching stats? "I went 16-0 with a .071 ERA. I had 180 K's and 29 walks in 95 innings."

What most did you improve on this season? "My command of the strike zone. I walked a lot earlier on in the season but not towards the end."

What most will you have to work on for the SEC? "For me, to get in better shape and keep developing my change up and split finger."

What was your highest recorded fastball this season? "94 MPH."

What do you average right now? "92/93 MPH."

What is your out pitch? "My fastball and curveball. I feel like I can throw either for a strike at any time."

What are your goals for your freshman season at Ole Miss? "My first goal is to be in the SEC rotation as a freshman. I would also like to be the SEC Freshman of the Year like Stephen Head did."

Does Ole Miss plan on letting you go both ways, pitching and playing first base? "They have not indicated yes or no. They said that will be determined with how well I hit in the Fall. My first priority is going to be to pitch, but I would like to hit some if they let me."

Did you look at Ole Miss' track record of having several two way players in the past? "Yes sir, I looked at the Stephen Head's, Brian Pettway's and those guys. I knew that I would be given the opportunity to hit if I prove to them that I am good enough, which I think I will."
