Manassas star commits to Rebs

LaDerrick Vaughn

After talking to LaDerrick Vaughn yesterday, it was obvious the Memphis grid star was close to making a commitment to Ole Miss. He did so today.

LaDerrick Vaughn, known as "D" by his friends, committed to Ole Miss today after being offered a football scholarship by Coach Ed Orgeron last week.

The 6-2, 205-pound "athlete - who can play just about any skill positions, but is projected as a safety or wide receiver in college - was happy about his choice, as was revealed in a phone conversation with him.

"It just seemed right," said LaDerrick, who preps at Manassas in Memphis, TN. "I like Coach Orgeron. I haven't seen the completed new facility (IPF) yet, but when I visited there it was just about finished and I know it's top of the line."

LaDerrick, who accounted for over 1200 yards on offense and over 100 tackles on defense last season, isn't sure where he will play at Ole Miss, but he's game for anything.

"I will play wherever the coaches ask me to," said "D". "I'm just excited about having the opportunity to play at Ole Miss and in the SEC.

Stan DeMoss, LaDerrick's guardian, was also excited about the decision.

"LaDerrick is on cloud nine and so am I," said DeMoss. "I have friends who graduated from Ole Miss and I know it's a great place for him to be. I can't wait to visit down there and get to know more Ole Miss people."
