C. J. Bailey (Ath, Moss Point, MS) - Many of the top quarterbacks in the Magnolia state will probably end up at another position on the next level, including C.J. Bailey.

Although CJ will be a three year starter for the Tigers this upcoming season, and has thrown for nearly 3,000 yards and over 30 TD's in the past two seasons, most college recruiters think CB will be his most likely destination.

The following information was revealed during our interview with C. J. Bailey:

What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 5' 11", 185, and I run a 4.45."

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Defensive back, slash athlete. Most are looking at me as an athlete too."

What are your strengths on the field? "I outsmart the defenses and my opponents. I am quicker and faster than anybody else too."

What are you working on for the next level? "I just need to get stronger and faster. Our coaches are always stressing that to me."

What do you currently bench, squat, and have you been measured in your vertical? "I bench 265, squat 415, and my vertical is 35". That is what they had me at the Ole Miss camp last summer."

Which camps did you attend? "The Ole Miss and Southern Mississippi camps."

Where do you plan to camp at this summer? "I want to go to the Nike camp at Ole Miss, the Elite Combine, and the Blue Chip Combine in New York. As for the colleges, I will probably go to the Ole Miss, Auburn, and USM Sr camps."

How long have you been starting at QB for Moss Point? "Since the end of my freshman year."

Have you ever played any cornerback? "I have never played anything but quarterback. But coach told me I will get some reps at CB this year. I am going to be used more as an athlete this year. I will play some QB, CB, RB, WR, PR, and KR. I am going to do it all."

What were your stats at QB last year? "I passed for 1,400 yards and 15 TD's."

And as a sophomore? "I had 1,200 yards passing 17 TD's."

Did you garner any awards last year? "I was named Player of the Week twice. I was Moss Point's MVP, and I was named 2nd Team All-Conference at QB. The other side of town throws it a lot, but I do not mind."

Which colleges are recruiting you the hardest? "West Virginia, Ole Miss is a lot, USM, Marshall, Stanford is a lot, LSU is a lot, Auburn is a lot, and MSU."

Any early offers? "No sir, I am waiting."

Who do you feel like is the closest to offering you? "Ole Miss, right now, just Ole Miss. I know I am going to have some good combines. I should have 2 to 3 after the combines. But right now, Ole Miss is the only one that is talking real serious about offering me."

Have you had a chance to attend any Jr Days? "I went to Ole Miss a couple of Saturdays ago."

Did anyone come with you? "I went up there with Richard Dickson. I wanted to go to LSU's Jr Day, but I had a basketball game that day. Those two probably write me the most. Ole Miss' campus is real nice. It is real clean up there. I really liked their new indoor facility. Their weight room too. That really got me interested in them, their facilities."

What else did you learn about Ole Miss during your trip? "They have some new coaches, so I learned a lot about them. I did not know they loved Ole Miss like they do. They are so hyped about it. That is what caught my eye, their passion for Ole Miss and winning. They are not laid back about it. They just tell you straight up they are going to win it all. I was up there last year for their camp, but their new facility was not done yet. So, it was all pretty much new to me."

What stood out the most? "The coaches, got to be the coaches. Especially Coach Orgeron. I liked his attitude about his program. I am for sure he will win big there, for sure."

Who are some more schools that you are interested? "USM, LSU, and Auburn. Auburn has two or three articles out on me at scout.com. That shows me they are real interested in me. I like that. I know for a fact I am going there this summer, for a fact. Auburn and USM mostly. Those two and Ole Miss."

What stands out about USM? "It is so close to home. I love their program. They win at USM. They stay in the Top 25 year in and year out. I have been going to their games for years. It would make it easy on my parents to come and see me play . I do not know, they just play good ball."

What is your academic status? "I have a 3.5 GPA and a 17 on the ACT.
