All he has done is contribute to a 44-1 record and back to back Top 10 national rankings.

Sanford contributed on both sides of the ball for the Tigers this season. but when he did have the ball in his hands, he had a 25.6 yard per catch average. This season was his first to play safety, but he excelled there as well, as he led his team in interceptions with 8.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Travis Sanford:

Tell us what it is like to be a part of a run that you experienced at South Panola? "I feel blessed. Everybody doubted us this year, I mean everything. It would have felt even better if we would have not lost that first championship game against Wayne County."

What were your stats for the season? "I had 47 tackles and 8 interceptions on defense and 19 receptions for 487 receiving yards and 6 TD's on offense."

Any awards? "I was named as one of the 10 Most Wanted players in MS by the Clarion Ledger. I also received 1st Team All-State on both offense and defense."

Have you had any inhome visits recently? "Coach Orgeron and Coach Luke (UM) came by, and I went to Ole Miss yesterday to meet everybody. I have set up an official visit on January 28th with the rest of my teammates (Peria Jerry, Derek Pegues, John Jerry)."

Was this the first time you met Coach Orgeron? "Yea, that guy has a lot of energy. He loves football. I know he do."

What was your impression? "He talked real good. I also met their WR coach yesterday at Ole Miss. We watched some film and he showed me how they were going to use me. They compare me to Mike Williams. I will be their biggest wide receiver they have over there."

Where does Ole Miss now stand with you? "I can really see myself playing there. Their new coaches, they think they are going to explode, especially the next couple of years. I could be really involved in their offense. And it would be nice to play again with all of my friends (Peria Jerry, Jamarca Sanford, Reterio Brown, Chris Herring)."

Is staying together with your teammates a big factor with you? "We are trying to stay together. Everybody is waiting on Derek Pegues to make a decision, and we are going to lead after him."

Do you have anymore official visits lined up? "I am suppose to visit MSU, but I do not know the date. Them are the only two I am interested in, Ole Miss and MSU."

Who wants you the most right now? "Ole Miss."

Are there anymore schools who are actively recruiting you right now? "Alabama and Memphis call. Tennessee use to call every week, but they quite calling me like a month ago."

Which other schools have paid you an inhome visit? "Just Ole Miss. Coach Luke pretty much comes every week. The rest of them, I talk to at my school or they call me on the phone."

Where do you stand academically; and do you have a legit chance to qualify? "Yea, I can qualify. I just sent off for a correspondence course. If I pass all of my classes in the Spring and make up this correspondence course, I will make it. I have a 16 on the ACT and I need an 18. I retake it in March." Recommended Stories
