After putting out several Division-1 prospects the last couple years, Crete-Monee High School is far from done. The Warriors have a couple more major prospects in the 2014 class, including defensive end Chris Slayton.
At 6'5, 230-lbs, he was the fastest lineman at Monday's Core 6 Showcase, and had a good run during 1 on 1s.
"I think I did good," he explained. "I competed really well against really great players."
Ask around at the school, and they'll tell you Slayton is an underrated talent right now, but there are several schools who have already noticed his abilities.
"I've heard from a couple colleges: Michigan State, Illinois, and Ole Miss. They've been to the school. No visits yet. I'm working on it though."
When he does set up visits, Slayton says he'd like to see all three.
In addition to taking visits, he is also working hard in the offseason to make sure his team repeats as state champions, as the feeling was a great one the first time around.
"It was amazing. It felt really good. We worked hard on it all year."
