Return Trip

Derrick Jones was one of the feel-good stories inside Mississippi this season. The Eupora product is hoping to parlay that into helping recruit some more players to the school he will spend his next four to five years, Ole Miss.

"I'll be back this weekend for sure," Jones said about the upcoming recruiting official visit weekend. "I wouldn't miss it for the world. We're going to shock everyone on signing day."

This past weekend the first team All-State selection was blown away on his official visit.

“Man, it was great. I mean, there isn't anything like it. I’Ive never witnessed nothing like Ole Miss in my life.”

The family atmosphere of Ole Miss is what impressed him the most .

“The people, they’re going to show you love. When you come and support the town and the players the way they do, the way they support Donte (Moncrief), I expect to come up here and do the same thing. I just like the people at Ole Miss and the way they respond to their football players. I didn't expect it to be that much support."

Ole Miss hosted seven more recruits last weekend and the 6' 2", 190-pound two-way player believes they're all on the same page.

"I feel they're tuned in. They know they're on the rise, and they know they better get on now. This weekend we're all going to be in Oxford. I don't know anybody who isn't going to be there. It's going to be a throwdown in O-Town!"

Jones last words out of his mouth were of no surprise.

“Hotty Toddy. We coming. When I say we're coming, I mean we all coming. Wait to signing day. I think some people are going to be shocked around here. We're going to be the talk of not only the state of Mississippi but the whole nation."
