Wiggins reaffirms commitment

Four-star cornerback Shaq Wiggins reaffirmed Thursday he will be a Georgia Bulldog come signing day.

Georgia got some good news Thursday evening when cornerback Shaquille Wiggins reaffirmed his commitment to the Bulldogs.

Wiggins took to his Twitter to break the news.

"...I've decided to stay commited to UGA and display my talents there," tweeted Wiggins.

The Sandy Creek High standout recently took an official visit to South Carolina. Wiggins admitted that South Carolina was Georgia's biggest competition, largely due to the number of defensive backs Georgia has committed in the 2013 recruiting class.

However, on Thursday, Wiggins squashed the idea of decommitting and also announced the cancellation of his remaining official visits. He was scheduled to visit Florida this weekend, Ole Miss on Jan. 26 and Texas A&M February 2.

"I want to thank all the coaches that recruited there (sic) ass off to try and get me to there school and really appreciate you guys (sic) effort," Wiggins said in a follow-up tweet.

The Under Armour All-American committed to the Bulldogs in February 2012.

At the time, Wiggins told Fox Sports Next recruiting analyst Chad Simmons, "I like how Georgia coaches kept it straight with me about me coming in and having a chance to play. They did not promise me playing time, tell me I would start, or anything like that, but they told me that they need corners, that I was a top priority, and that I would have a chance to play if I came in and worked hard. That is what I plan to do."

It appears — with the news today — his plan remains intact.
