While the post season contact period has really just begun, four star running back Kailo Moore has…
"Coach (Derrick) and coach Freeze came by to see me Sunday," Moore said. "It was more about them getting to know the rest of my family." Moore felt Freeze made some in-roads with his family. "I'd have to give it a 10. Coach Freeze and coach Nix have sold my grandmom and mom on Ole Miss. That's where they want me. Coach Freeze really won over my grandmom yesterday. He'd already sold my mom. We drove around and stopped by all of my relatives in Bolivar County. Everyone just got to know one another better." What were Ole Miss' selling points during the visit? "They were telling me how I can help make a difference in their program. They told me which position I'd play. They want me in the backfield toting the mail. They said I was their number one man on their board that has not committed to them. My grandmother didn't know coach Freeze that well, but she's a strong Christian, so she feels like he is a good person to look after me. They really hit it off because they're both so religious. That really stood out to her about coach Freeze. He just has a strong Christian background, and so does she, so they just had that natural bond. My mom already liked coach Freeze but the visit made our bonds even stronger." Moore sees an opportunity for early playing time at Ole Miss. "That's a big plus to me. Jeff (Scott) was getting too many carries last season. I can come in and give him a break, and he can come in and give me a break. That way everyone stays fresh the whole game. We'd make a big-time duo. He's so fast. You chase him around and then you have to chase me around and the defenses are going to wear down. It'd be the fastest backfield in the country. I know that. We'd be really explosive together." Freeze and Nix went over a couple of things with Moore before they departed. "Me and coach Nix go way back. He was the first one that found me. He offered me when I was in 8th grade. We were just talking about how fast time is flying that it's already my senior year. That's five years and it's just flown by. Coach Freeze talked about me coming to Ole Miss and how I feel about MSU. He wanted to know where I fit with them and why I should choose Ole Miss." What was Moore's response when he asked what his feelings were towards MSU? "I let him know that I'm still committed to MSU but they're making up ground with me. I'm liking them more and more. Ole Miss is on the rise, but I'm still with Mississippi State." Scout.com's #16 ranked tailback pointed out what attracted him to MSU to switch commitments from Ole Miss to MSU last spring. "I was really close to coach Nutt and his staff and when they got rid of them I just started looking around. I started going over there to MSU a lot and it was just the love I felt when I went down there. It started feeling like I was home, and I started knowing the MSU staff a lot better. I started talking to coach Mullen a lot and he changed my mind when coach Nutt left. I felt pretty good about MSU and the love I was getting from their fans so I committed." Is there any other schools in the picture right now outside of MSU and Ole Miss? "Nobody, not yet." Which colleges have come by to see Moore to this point? "Ole Miss is the only school who has been by so far. Coach Nix came last week and then him and coach Freeze came by Sunday night. Coach Mullen and coach (Melvin) Smith are coming by Wednesday." Moore is a little surprised that MSU has not visited him before Ole Miss stopped by twice. "Yeah, I was a little surprised about that. I found out that the head coaches can't make but one home visit. Coach Nix said he was coming by every Sunday and he has. He always told me that he was going to be the first coach to come see me and he did. I guess he wants to make sure I don't change my mind." The official visits have not been set yet. "I haven't set any dates yet. The Ole Miss coaches told me Sunday they wanted me to come when they were bringing the rest of their big recruits. I'm sure MSU is going to want me to come when they are bringing in all of their recruits too. I'll get all of that lined up during the Christmas break." var VideoMediaID = "1104899" var VideoStillImageID = "1017176" var MediaDir = "http://video.scout.com/media/"; var VideoURL = MediaDir + "video/flv/" + parseInt( VideoMediaID / 10000 ) + "/" + VideoMediaID + ".flv"; var ImageURL = MediaDir + "image/" + parseInt( VideoStillImageID / 10000 ) + "/" + VideoStillImageID + ".jpg"; var so = new SWFObject ('http://cdn-cms.scout.com/swf/flvplayer.swf','mpl','425','340','8'); so.addParam ('allowscriptaccess','always'); so.addParam ('allowfullscreen','true'); so.addVariable ('height','340'); so.addVariable ('width','425'); so.addVariable ('file',VideoURL); so.addVariable ('image',ImageURL); so.addVariable ('backcolor','0x000000'); so.addVariable ('frontcolor','0xFFFFFF'); so.addVariable ('lightcolor','0x00FF00'); so.addVariable ('screencolor','0x000000'); so.addVariable ('logo','http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/mediaplayer/scoutTVlogo.png'); so.addVariable ('showstop','true'); so.write ('player'); Yancy Porter is the Mississippi Scout for Scout.com and he can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
