Hooks Setting Final Visits

Lavon Hooks has made the most of his time in the Mississippi Junior College system. The Northeast Mississippi standout has drawn interest and offers from some of the top college football programs in the country. With a few weeks left before Hooks has to put pen to paper and cast his lot with a four year school, he is still debating about who will get his fifth and final official visit.

"I have already visited Arizona State and Nebraska," said Hooks. "I am going to Ole Miss this weekend and then I am going to Miami in December (12/6).

"I am still thinking about my last visit. I am thinking about going to Mississippi State, Baylor or Missouri."

While Hooks is still open to all comers, he has had to narrow his recruiting focus a good bit over the course of the last few weeks.

"I have somewhere between 26 and 34 offers," said Hooks. "I guess you could say I am still open though, because I am not ready to close out anybody that is still calling me.

"I am not sure where I am going to yet. I want to take these visits and then make my decision."

On the field success is important to the All-Region star.

"I am about winning," said Hooks. "I want to go somewhere to compete for championships and go to bowl games and all of that.

"I only have two years for all of that, so I want to go somewhere that is ready to contend and win big."
