Pennsylvania's Top Uncommitted Prospects
The high school football playoffs are underway in Pennsylvania and the recruiting season is heating up for the remaining uncommitted players from the Keystone State. FOXSportsNEXT is taking a state-by-state look at the top uncommitted prospects in the Northeast region, and the tour continues in Pennsylvania. Foster Robert Foster Position: Receiver School: Central Valley High, Monaca Height: 6-2 Weight: 180 Official visits: Alabama (Oct. 27), Pittsburgh (Nov. 16), Ohio State (TDB) Skinny: The five-star Foster is the region's top-rated receiver, and the region could come into question when it comes time for him to make a decision. Foster already visited Alabama, and now he will make the nearby trip to Pittsburgh. It could turn into a benchmark weekend for the Panthers, who are on a bye week but hosting Foster, four-star receiver Tyler Boyd and four-star offensive lineman Dorian Johnson. The Panthers have a bye this weekend, which will give the staff plenty of time to sell the direction for the program as they sit at 4-6 (1-4 Big East) and ready for the move to the ACC next season. A trip to Ohio State is in the works, but a date needs to be settled. Central Valley remains alive in the playoffs, and a win Friday means a game Nov. 23 game at 8 p.m. Boyd Tyler Boyd Position: Receiver School: Clairton High, Clairton Height: 6-1 Weight: 175 Official visits: Pittsburgh (Nov. 16), others TBD Skinny: Location could wind up being a big factor in Boyd's recruitment, but that this time the style of offense seems to be a driving force. He remains hot with West Virginia and likes the way he could fit in there. Immediate playing time is also available, but look for Pittsburgh to make the big sell to Foster, Johnson and Boyd about staying local and rebuilding the Pittsburgh program. Boyd is also looking at Michigan State, Wisconsin and Arizona, but a wide open offense could be the tipping point. The only two schools Boyd made unofficial visits to this season were West Virginia and Pittsburgh, and he is yet to schedule another official visit. Johnson Dorian Johnson Position: Offensive tackle School: Belle Vernon High, Belle Vernon Height: 6-6 Weight: 280 Official visits: Pittsburgh (Nov. 16), Ohio State (Dec. 7) Skinny: Like the two aforementioned western Pennsylvania players, it could come down to location. Johnson could also be the catalyst for the class. The one-time Penn State commit was also looking at Virginia Tech, but it now looks like a two team race between the Panthers and the Buckeyes. He is slated to make an unofficial visit to Ohio State next weekend for the Michigan game, then return the weekend of Dec. 7 for his official visit. Two trip to Columbus in the span of three weeks could be tough to beat, but the in-state school could make it happen by getting Boyd, Foster and Johnson to all join. Issah Zayd Issah Position: Outside linebacker School: Central Dauphin High, Harrisburg Height: 6-4 Weight: 210 Official visits: TBD Skinny: Issah is from Portland, Ore., and still has strong ties there. He committed to Penn State, but opened his recruitment after the NCAA sanctions were announced. He made an unofficial visit to campus for the Ohio State game, but has shied away from interviews the last few months. Ohio State and Miami are also involved with Issah, but something will have to change for it not to be an Oregon-Penn State decision. Williams David Williams Position: Running back School: Imhoptep Charter School, Philadelphia Height: 6-1 Weight: 200 Official visits: Arizona State (Sept. 7), Tennessee (Nov. 23), South Carolina (TBD) Skinny: Williams already visited Arizona State but his focus seems to be more on the SEC with the Vols and the Gamecocks. He pushed his visit to Tennessee back to Thanksgiving weekend, but it will be an interesting time given the heat on Vols coach Derek Dooley, who is 4-6 in his third season. Williams is planning to visit South Carolina in January, but a date is yet to be set. He has long liked the Gamecocks, and making a late visit puts them in a good position. Miami, Ohio State and Pittsburgh remain under consideration as well. Jones-Smith Jaryd Jones-Smith Position: Outside tackle School: West Catholic High, Philadelphia Height: 6-7 Weight: 310 Official visits: Virginia (Oct. 12), Pittsburgh, North Carolina State Skinny: Jones-Smith is a big, long left tackle who is still growing into his body. He already made an official visit to Charlottesville, Va., and is planning trips to Pittsburgh and North Carolina State after the season. Moody Justin Moody Position: Defensive end School: George Washington High, Philadelphia Height: 6-3 Weight: 75 Official visits: TBD Skinny: Moody is looking at Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Purdue and Temple, but is yet to set up an official visit. It could happen after the season, but at this point schools are taking their time in setting up trips. Wilson Devin Wilson Position: Receiver School: Montour High, Mc Kees Rocks Height: 6-3 Weight: 175 Official visits: TBD Skinny: Wilson is waiting on whether or not Penn State will offer, and is also talking with Temple, Ohio and Akron. He is yet to set up visits, and could be waiting for the Nittany Lions to decide before he makes his next move. Lemelle Brian Lemelle Position: Receiver School: Bishop McDevitt High, Harrisburg Height: 5-11 Weight: 170 Official visits: TBD Skinny: Lemelle visited Penn State last month and is also hearing from Iowa, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Purdue, Bowling Green and Boston College, but he is yet to schedule an official visit and says he will remain patient with the process. Clay Roman Clay Position: Running back School: Lancaster Catholic, Lancaster Height: 5-11 Weight: 210 Official visits: Kent State (Sept. 29), Delaware (Oct. 5) Skinny: Clay is looking at Kent State, Delaware and Penn State, but is yet to receive an offer from the Nittany Lions. He visited for the Ohio State game last month and had a very good time, and he is willing to wait until Penn State decides whether or not an offer will come.
