Persistence Pays Off

Hattiesburg, Miss., linebacker Lelland Ducksworth arrived at Ole Miss' elite camp over the weekend with one thing on his mind: a scholarship offer. He left Oxford a happy camper.

Special Note

The interview below was conducted before the camp took place over the weekend.

Lelland Ducksworth checked in at 6' 1", 213 pounds and ran a 4.58 forty and a very impressive 4.25 short shuttle. He also had a 31" vertical and a 9 feet 3 1/2" broad jump.

Before he went back home Sunday morning, Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt and defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix offered Ducksworth a scholarship.

"They told me that my numbers at the camp were pretty good and that I would fit into their defensive system," Ducksworth said. "I told them that I liked what they were doing, and I feel that they are a program on the rise, and then I thanked them for the offer."

The North Forrest standout will next camp at Alabama.
